Dubai conditions are brutal on air suspension. The compressor runs constantly in our heat, the rubber air springs crack, and sand gets into everything. We see this daily. Budget for air spring replacement every 80,000-100,000 km. The good news: quality aftermarket springs work just as well as OEM at half the price.
Much more so than the older models, but it's complex. The new Defender shares its platform with the Range Rover, which means air suspension and sophisticated electronics. Early models had some teething issues, but most are sorted now. Regular servicing is key—don't skip the maintenance schedule.
Potentially very serious. The supercharged V8 in the Discovery has plastic coolant crossover pipes that fail in Dubai's heat. If you're losing coolant and the engine overheats, you risk head gasket damage. Get it checked immediately. We can usually replace the pipes in a day.
We love the older Defenders and Discoveries. They're mechanically simpler and very satisfying to work on. Parts availability is good, and these vehicles were built to be maintained. Whether it's a 90s Defender or a TD5 Discovery, we can keep it running properly.
