Your car's manual has a service schedule. But it was written for European or Japanese conditions — moderate temperatures, good roads, minimal dust. Dubai is a completely different beast. Here's the maintenance schedule I recommend based on 25 years of keeping cars alive in this climate.

What This Costs Over 100,000km
For a typical European car (BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class):
- 10 oil services × AED 450 = AED 4,500
- 5 air filter changes × AED 100 = AED 500
- 3 brake fluid changes × AED 200 = AED 600
- 2 coolant flushes × AED 300 = AED 600
- 2 transmission services × AED 800 = AED 1,600
- 2 spark plug sets × AED 400 = AED 800
- 1 timing belt/chain service × AED 2,000 = AED 2,000
Total: approximately AED 10,600 over 100,000km — that's about AED 880 per year for a car driven 12,000km annually. Compare this to a single engine rebuild at AED 15,000+ and the maths speaks for itself.
The Most Expensive Mistakes
My honest advice — these are the services people skip that cost them the most:
- Transmission fluid — "lifetime fluid" marketing costs people AED 8,000-40,000 in gearbox failures
- Timing belt — skipping this can mean a new engine (AED 15,000-50,000+)
- Coolant — old coolant corrodes radiators and head gaskets (AED 5,000-15,000 to fix)
- Brake fluid — absorbs moisture over time, can cause brake failure in extreme heat

What Our Customers Say
Real feedback about their scheduled maintenance
"Great Service. Thank you to the team at PowerWorks Garage. Our car, which we bought new from a dealership 5 years ago (and have had average service at best, despite this being our second new car from them) was due an annual service. On recommendation, we took it to PowerWorks and the difference in service was outstanding."
Tina Harrison
"I highly recommend Glenn, Justin & the Powerworks team having always provided excellent support for my car service and repairs. Most recently help began via a breakdown recovery! Swift diagnosis, detailed explanation of both necessary and recommended work."
Mark Reed
"I know Glen from Dubai Eyes talk show and started with our Volvo XC90. Recently our cars (GTI and Infiniti) have been serviced by their team. Justin has taken good care of our cars with detailed reports and solutions. Highly recommended for their quality, expertise and service."
